PLUM CRAZY: This 1970 Dodge HEMI Challenger RT/SE Is Selling With No Reserve In Las Vegas

Written by Nicole Ellan James

At the height of the muscle car era, manufacturers offered all variety of options. Every so often, you will come across a vehicle equipped with select combinations that translate into an extremely low production number. One such example is this 1970 Dodge HEMI Challenger RT/SE. It is one of 22 Challengers produced in 1970 with a HEMI and a 4-speed finished in Plum Crazy purple.

The HEMI under the hood is a period-correct 426/425hp V8 engine equipped with the maximum cooling package. Hooked to the engine is a matching-numbers New Process Gear manual 4-speed A833 transmission that sends power to a 9.75-inch Dana rear axle.

The driver sits in bucket seats covered in black vinyl and cloth houndstooth while taking advantage of the car’s super Track Pak, power steering, and power brakes. The driver can run through the vehicle’s gears with a pistol grip shifter while monitoring RPM with the factory tachometer.

This Plum Crazy HEMI Challenger is the subject of a comprehensive restoration, and the car retains its original fender tag, matching body numbers and is registered in the MMC Detroit Global Vehicle Registry. Included with the sale is an Elite Wise validation report and a photocopy of the original production Build Sheet.

This 1970 Dodge HEMI Challenger RT/SE has all the right options for one lucky buyer. Lot #730 is selling with No Reserve at the 2022 Las Vegas Auction, held June 30-July 2 at the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
